This is a commanding portrait of Jesus, using light on his face and in his eyes to draw us in. His dark hair frames his face, making a contrast to the image. Our brain is naturally drawn to the large portrait first because of these factors.
When we look beyond the face, however, we can see a figure on a donkey, whose clothing is formed from the portrait?s beard and whose left arm and head are formed from his nose. Surrounding the figure is a crowd, their heads covered, and perspective is used on the crowd, through the hair texture.
