When you look at this image, try to work out which soldier is the tallest of the three. Can you do it?
Soldier number three, the furthest away, appears to be taller than the other two, doesn?t he?
Interestingly, all three soldiers are exactly the same height. If you take out a rule and measure them, you will find that there is no difference.
Our brains use the lined perspective created in this image and the way in which the lines narrow into the distance. By placing the third soldier the furthest away, on the narrower lines, he appears taller.
Which soldier is taller?
None. They're all the same size.
