What do you see when you look at this image; an old man’s face or two lovers kissing?
Immediately the old man’s face is distinguishable. The use of light and shadow is effective and draws us to the pale face and dark eye sockets, we then see his nose and beard. Framing his face is wild hair.
Finding the lovers is less obvious. If you look again at the left side of the old man’s face, you can trace a woman’s black shawl (the man’s left eye socket) and the nose becomes her upturned face as she kisses her lover.
